What ARE Settlement AgreementS?
When two sides are in dispute to resolve a problem or end employment, either party can use Settlement Agreements. A Settlement Agreement is a legally binding contract between two parties. The two parties are usually the employer and the employee. Its purpose is to settle potential claims an employee might have. These claims may include unfair dismissal, concerns regarding redundancy or performance, breach of contract and workplace discrimination. For the agreement to be legally binding, it is a requirement that the employee takes independent legal advice. This advice would usually come from a solicitor. As expert employment law solicitors based in Maidstone, Kent, we deal with Settlement Agreements regularly.
